ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Chauncey Billups, Shooting guard Arron Afflalo, Small forward Carmelo Anthony, Power forward Kenyon Martin, Center Nene. Bench -- Center Chris Andersen, Guard J.R. Smith, Guard Ty Lawson, Forward Joey Graham. PLAYER NOTES: --G Ty Lawson is being counted on this season as a rookie to provide mostly passing. But nobody thought he would be shooting the way he is. Lawson ranks in the top 10 in the NBA in three-point shooting. He has made 50 percent (13 of 26) from beyond the arc. Lawson made his only attempt Tuesday against Golden State.
--F Carmelo Anthony looks determined to win his first NBA scoring title. Anthony has scored 107 points in his last three games, an average of 35.7. While Anthony, who is averaging 30.7 points, got just 25 in Tuesday's 135-107 rout against Golden State, that's because he didn't play a second in the third quarter.
--C Johan Petro got into just his fifth game this season Tuesday against Golden State because forward Renaldo Balkman was inactive. Petro made the most of it, scoring four points and grabbing six rebounds in four minutes. Yes, he played during garbage time of a 135-107 rout. But, still, it was a solid showing.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F Renaldo Balkman was inactive Tuesday against Golden State for the second straight game. Balkman said he missed Sunday's game against Minnesota because he was under the weather. Nuggets coach George Karl said he had a wisdom tooth extracted Monday. Balkman is not expected to be out long.
