ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Chauncey Billups, Shooting guard Arron Afflalo, Small forward Carmelo Anthony, Power forward Kenyon Martin, Center Nene. Bench -- Center Chris Andersen, Guard J.R. Smith, Guard Ty Lawson, Forward Joey Graham. PLAYER NOTES: --F Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points Sunday against Minnesota, giving him 82 points in his past two games. Anthony had a career-high 50 Friday against New York. But Anthony slowed down after the first quarter Sunday, when he had 19 points. He had nine in the fourth quarter, meaning he got just four in the second and third quarters combined.
--G Ty Lawson has moved ahead of Anthony Carter as Denver's backup point guard. But there are still times when Lawson looks like a rookie. He did have six points and three assists in 17 minutes Sunday against Minnesota, but Lawson also had four turnovers. Obviously, the Nuggets want Lawson to have a much better assist-to-turnover ratio.
--F Renaldo Balkman was inactive for Sunday's game against Minnesota, the first time Balkman has been inactive for a game this season. Balkman said he was feeling under the weather. But there looks to be a good chance he will be back for Tuesday's game against Golden State. With Balkman out and the Nuggets having 13 players, center Johan Petro was the only choice to replace him on the active list. But Petro didn't play.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F Renaldo Balkman was inactive Sunday against Minnesota due to illness. Indications are it won't be a long-term situation.
