Denver Nuggets Notes, Quotes 2008-11-29
--Former Nuggets center Marcus Camby has offered his take on the Nov. 3 trade in which Allen Iverson went to Detroit in a deal in which the Nuggets got Chauncey Billups.

Camby was part of the previous big deal by Denver. He was sent to the Clippers last July for nothing more than the right to swap second-round picks in 2010. It was basically a salary dump as the Nuggets, with the luxury tax considered, could end up saving more than $20 million.

"They moved on," Camby said. "They're playing well. But that's never been their problem. We always had great regular seasons ever since I've been there. A lot of people have been asking me about the trade, Chauncey for A.I. It really ain't going to be able to take its toll until the playoff time, and we'll see how it turns out."

The Nuggets have lost five straight first-round playoff series.

--George Karl's cradle of coaches has grown.

There are now five NBA coaches who once played for or coached under Karl, now with Denver. Scott Brooks, an assistant coach with the Nuggets from 2003-06 who was under Karl during his last 1 1/2 years there, became the latest when he was named Oklahoma City's interim coach.

"He's earned it," Karl said. "He's got to look at it as a positive opportunity. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, you're still going to be in the league."

Brooks has received congratulatory calls from Nuggets assistants Adrian Dantley and Tim Grgurich. Dantley said he's happy for Brooks, but admits Oklahoma City doesn't have "the talent like a lot other teams, (and) I don't know if he can turn it around."

The Thunder was 1-12 when Brooks replaced the fired P.J. Carlesimo, and the team is 0-3 under Brooks.

Others in Karl's cradle of coaches are Detroit's Michael Curry (Milwaukee player under Karl, 1998-99), Chicago's Vinny Del Negro (Milwaukee player under Karl, 1998-2000), Portland's Nate McMillan (Seattle player under Karl, 1992-98) and Toronto's Sam Mitchell (Milwaukee assistant under Karl, 2002-03).

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We would have sold our children, probably, for 10 wins." -- Coach George Karl, on the Nuggets on Wednesday reaching 10 wins before the end of November despite a tough schedule.
